It has been a rather good week. Very little of it is suitable for putting up here (BECAUSE IT'S BORING not anything else you filthy-minded creatures) but I think the fact that so much time has passed means I should make some sort of post.

Firstly: Corinne did the dishes. And some dishes of mine that I'd left out in a faintly pointed way. Therefore, she will probably live for the rest of the semester. (Her survival would have been assured if she'd actually, you know, mopped the floor and got the nasty porridge mess out of the cooker, but there we are. Having lived with the woman for nearly a whole academic year, I'll take what I can get.)

Secondly: You know what's really, utterly amazing? Heroes. It's so amazingly fabulously amazing. You should all watch it. I am currently up to episode 17 and I can't wait to see the rest.

Because it's such a bloody geek-fest. Tim Kring (is that his name?) represents each and every one of us in the nerd stakes, and oh, he does his job well. George Takei in a car with the Enterprise number on it! Stan Lee! Stan bloody Lee! Christopher Eccleston! (Admittingly, you can almost see him twitching when he has to use Americanisms and the odd bit of American grammar. Not in that accent, people.) Star Trek references, X-Men references, and a million tiny ones that I can't decide if it's a homage to something geeky or if I just think it is.

They're characters us nerds emphasise with! It's got that Buffy feel to it, but it's so much more blatent in terms of 'nerds are people too, popular people suck ass in the long run of things'. I genuinely cheered when Claire got Homecoming Queen because, you know, YAY.

And it's also really, really good. Apart from being Nerd Heaven (TM) it's also really watchable. I could do without the Niki/Jessica thing because although it's very well done, I can't be arsed with any of the characters involved in that little storyline. I have a big soft spot for Claire because that storyline is brilliant and engaging; I like Matt because he's sort of just daft; I had a creepy nightmare about Sylar. They're all just so believeable, though!

I, however, should point out that Hiro is my favourite. Hiro is the ultimate fanboy and I love him to teeny tiny bits. I'm very upset he sent Ando away, though. Alas! In conclusion, you should all watch Heroes.

Thirdly: Zizzi's on South Street does kickass food. Best random decision ever. I had an aamzing starter of a sort of chicken-y thing with creme fraiche, pesto, spring onions and some other stuff all of bruschetta, and a main course of, er, more chicken and creme fraiche but in a weird slightly spicy sauce and a delicious dessert of toffee, pecan and walnut cheesecake. I will be going again.

Fourthly: Work got cancelled tonight. Dammit. I could really have done with the money. On the bright side, I won't complain too much.

Fifthly: DAMNED BLOODY WORKMEN. People tend to just let themselves into Fife Park houses because they're doing work. When I am, more or less, alone in the house in a quiet residential area, I tend to freak out somewhat when they do this and demand ID. This morning, after hanging on the doorbell for thrty seconds, someone let themselves in to disinfect the shower. One assumes if they have a key then they're probably legit, but as I always do, I asked for ID. None was produced. I threw him out.

Later, someone came to apologise, avec ID, and did the work anyway. This feels like a victory; I'm fed up of Estates just wandering into the house at will, despite what it says in the contract.

Sixthly: Tomorrow I am going to see 300. Sweaty men in their underwear in a historically dubious film! THERE IS NO BAD.

Seventhly (this is getting ridiculous): DOCTOR WHO ON SATURDAY. If there's anyone in St Andrews, Simon and I plan to take over the Nisbet Room in the DRA Facilities Building, armed with an Onity card and possibly a big stick with a nail in it. Anyone fancy coming along?

Back home on Sunday. Ho hum. I love you all, and I still aten't dead.

Argh! I completely forgot about Dr Who! I'll be at home, coming back up the next day. I will definately be up for it the week after though, the Nisbet room kicks ass when it comes to watching stuff!

I won't be here next week, alas; I'll be fighting off my family with a big stick instead. After that, though, you will find me regularly in the Nisbet Room every Saturday. :-)

I haven't seen the trailer yet - am sort of hoping i can stay oblivious to everything, i always enjoy shows more when i have no expectations! That said, i did see David Tennant on The Graham Norton Show (so fun!) and heard a few bits and bats there. I love that i can still see this show from all the way over here, can't wait :D

I think everyone thinks that Hiro is the best, because blatently he is. But I quite like Claire & I grew to like HRG as well a bit towards the end. I am SO pissed off there's a season break though.

Interestingly enough, you ought to join the heroes community. I'm a member, check my info because I am lazy. Also the NBC webpage has an online comic with more background info about characters, such as Hana (Wireless) who only appeared once so far I think. (Also, she has a blog and there's a Primatech Paper website) And Hiro has a blog and it truely is geek heaven. I'm not even a true geek and I say that. Heroes is amazing! So good that I made my mum watch it on sci-fi. She likes it, & is also amused that Pater was in the Gilmore Girls!

Hehe, I went to see 300 last Friday, and liked it more than I thought I would. It was summed up rather neatly by the bloke behind me on the escalators at the end (don't read ahead until you've seen it!)

"Basically, not very many men wearing not very much fought against quite a lot of men led by a drag queen, and they came out of it pretty badly, but good on them anyway."

Oh, and if you've seen Top Gun, see if you can spot the similarities :p

hahaha. 300 was hilarious. especially the *spoiler* supposed phalanx fighting that ended up with everyone running around on their own. I mean, come on. I don't know any history! But I can see that completely failing to work.

Very well done for throwing someone out, by the way. stroppiness for the win!
*hug*
