Firstly: I love April Fools.

Right. Er. Am at home. That is kind of sucky. I am on the family computer. This is more sucky. Megan and her sort-of-what-the-hell-is-going-on ex are in the living room. Megan smells suspiciously like (and I meant this nicely) Corinne, which proves my suspicions that she is a hearty smoker and does not shower very often. Mother is out. In a pub. Father is at work.

In about ten minutes, I'm going to go and curl up under my quilt on my bed and find a book and stay there. However, first I am going to ignore all of this and instead I'm going to get very excited about

Oooh, that was proper good, wasn't it? I watched it in the DRA Nisbet Room, fighting off people who wanted a DVD night. BUGGAR OFF I thought rudely but did not say so. Ahem.

Anyway. The Judoon were Proper Rubbish Aliens and that always makes me happy; they wre convincing in a sort of naff way. Why oh why were they all wearing Nu-Rocks, though? Did they nip down to Camden Market before nicking the hospital? There will be a lot of shoeless goths wandering around...

"I had a brother, once" or something like that; someone WALKED IN ARGH during that line, so I missed it. I do like the Doctor going undercover, though; not as good as Three Inna Dress (or The Green Death as the BBC prefer to call it) but still good.

"Laughing to cover up the darkness," or a variant on that (someone will correct me); oooh, I loved that so much. It sort of says everything about Ten, I think.

Actually, the whole thing was a bit Casualty On The Moon, wasn't it? All stereotypes of the NHS present and correct; consultants are evil and overpaid and cynical; medical students are too trendy and nerdy for their own good; nurses scream at the first sign of danger (none of them made a cup of tea, that's what they always do normally); patients are crap; the NHS is cheap and over-worked. All good to see! Also liked the satire on the police, when Martha got consempation.

Oh, I'm tip-toeing around the issue, aren't I? So, that was Martha. She's a bit good, isn't she? Very much of the awesome! I liked the fact she resorts to logical ways of doing things whilst keeping a little compassion; she checked the instruction manual, she asked questions, she was generally A Bit Awesome. And really, really hot. *fans self* This is going to be such a good series from the perspective of my hormones.

I'm looking forward to next week. HELLO ELIZABETHAN ENGLAND. I don't care how rubbish the episode is, my favourite episodes are always the ones set in the past rather than in a sort of semi-mythical future.

Overall; a good start. And now I am going to get my tea and find some form of name-brand food and curl up with my bookshelf, presuming it hasn't been plundered in my absence. I'm actually afraid to go upstairs; I don't know what they've done, and it worries me a little.

I really liked Martha a lot. She was sort of the anti-Rose. I loved Rose, don't get me wrong, but she was at the point in her life (when she met the Doctor) where she didn't really have her own identity, so when she got involved with him, it kind of swallowed her up. Martha's a little bit older and a little more...herself. She's very much got her own identity, so is a little more of an equal to the Doctor instead of a groupie.

That feels too harsh on Rose, which it shouldn't be, but there you go.

And Florida got a mention! I'm probably more pleased about that than it really warrants, but who cares?!

on the other hand, the reason she followed the doctor at the end was that her family was subdividing and she had no real part in it.
i thought it was quite harshly different from rose, actually - rose just had no clue about so many things, but doesn't it make sense that Ten wanted someone who did?
great episode, hope i get to keep up with the rest of it :)

I saw it as more frustration with them. She struck me as sick of babysitting them all.

Oh, I did too! When I said "harsh" I just meant that I wasn't slamming on Rose, because I do like her.

I'm definitely looking forward to this season. :-)

I just like the fact she's a student, although she seems far too healthy and well-dresed to be a proper a student. It's not until you get scurvy that you're living the student life...

Ahem. Bare-footed Doctor! Yay!

She *is* hot.

And the line was something like...

"why, do you have a brother?"
"mmmm no, not anymore"
