28 Weeks Later is out tomorrow! And is going to be on! In St Andrews! This is quite the rarity; we get most films a week or so later than the rest of the planet. I haven't seen Spiderman 3 yet - I might, if it's still on after the exams - but holy lord I will happily fail exams to go and see 28 Weeks Later.

I hope I can corral people into coming with me. The last zombie film I saw on a big screen on the re-make of Dawn of the Dead. (Or possibly Shaun of the Dead. Which one came out first?) This is what comes with being far, far too young; I had to sneak into Dawn of the Dead as it was. But I can go and see this! As an adult! And there will be zombies! In Britain! And that lovely Day of the Triffids feel to it! Ahahahahaha!

... I have no zombie icon. This feels wrong, somehow. But oh! And St Andrews people want to come with me? I am a big girly wuss and don't want to go by myself. I will, mind, but I don't want to. Ahem.

Apart from this UTTER GLEE things are grey and miserable here. It's pissing it down again for a start, work sucks on so many levels, and revision is failing miserably, as I will probably be in this time in a week. DocSoc yesterday was far, far, far too much fun; two teams of six charging around, shrieking and laughing and coming last (well, I was) and getting to know new people and getting to know old people better and generally loving being in charge of the society. It was like a bright break of sunlight in what is not shaping up to be the best month of my life.

Last night, though, was seriously odd. Someone charged into the house at about eleven or so, charged back out again, and then did the same next door, laughing all the while. The door is now locked on a permanent basis. I don't give a crap if people don't have keys; it's not my problem that people are too stupid to remember to take them out.

I will sleep well tonight, because I slept very badly last night. Between the people charging in and out of the house and the fact I seem to be running a slightly temperature in between the aches from running into walls and into stairs and stuff, I feel rotten, but I'm hoping that'll pass with a decent night's sleep tonight.

But still! Zombie zombie zombie! Ehee!

If you have no idea why I am so excited about this film, or indeed, what it is, a quick recap:

28 Days Later came out a few years back. It starred Cillian Murphy in a very early role, as well as Naomie Harris (she's in Pirates of the Caribbean now) and is about, well, the end of the world. Completely ripped from Day of the Triffids - someone wakes up in a hospital and everything's gone wrong, but with less killer plants and more zombies and while I'm on the subject do yourself a favour and read Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham rather than see the films - Jim wakes up from a coma and everything has gone wrong. There's no one in the hospital, and he wanders through a deserted London, seeing orders for evacuation and overturned buses and stuff. It's deeply weird, seeing Piccadilly Circus without any people in it. Anyway, turns out it's actually people infected with Rage, which is essentially being a zombie, but one that can run and fight rather than stagger around. It's directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting) and it scares the living daylights out of me, with the images of Manchester burning, and the fields of the dead, and oh my. It's ever so creepy. It sort of completely changes direction half way through, brings in Christopher Eccleston and goes a bit wrong, but it's still good fun.

This is the sequel, involving the repopulation of London. I am very very excited. This is the trailer. It's not so much that I like zombie films, but I love post-apocolyptic films, which zombie films generally are; I liked War of the Worlds for similar reasons, same for Children of Men, all of that. Most of them are, eventually, not about the monsters but about the nature of the human spirit and the evil that men do; it's fascinating.

So I can't wait, basically. Eeeheeee!

I actually don't have a copy of it, bizarrely enough; I really should sort that out. IT IS SO VERY VERY GOOD. I actually saw it in college for the first time, if memory serves. Happy days.

And those are awful exam times. I have all three of mine of the 16th, 17th and 18th, though... ugh. Still, zombie films are CLEARLY MORE IMPORTANT.
