I have had the best two days EVAR. Not including today. That was a bit pants, mostly. But Monday and Tuesday were TOTALLY AWESOME in ways that I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO DESCRIBE.

But I will try.

[livejournal.com profile] tau_sigma turned up to the vast wastes of the North-West to visit [livejournal.com profile] loneraven and myself. Due to work being the most awful it's been in the history of ever, I actually came the day after [livejournal.com profile] tau_sigma did, but OH MY SO MUCH FUN. I came armed with all of Heroes and an unhealthy bag of Pick and Mix, which we watched for some time and then decided, entirely on a whim to go to Southport. I informed my compadres that Napoleon had based Paris on Lord Street in Southport.

"That is a lie," was the hasty response from Iona.

"NO IT IS TRUEFAX!"

According to the Southport Tourism website, it is TRUE. Iona also disbelieves the website but she is silly like that. Anyway, we still had marvellous fun in the traditional Southport way, by eating chips and ice cream at the pier and then walking in the glorious sunshine around the marina, which is in fact the only way to see water at the traditional British seaside. We schlepped our way back and watched Slings and Arrows, which Iona is unhealthily obsessed with, but that was really all we watched in terms of fandom.

Because, you see, we had the internet. After finding out what obscure languages existed on Wikipedia - Klingon was taken off! alas, but the pages about it did begin with QaHplah which is the only Klingon I know - we ended up surfing YouTube for HOURS. We watched clips from Star Trek, made [livejournal.com profile] tau_sigma watch bits of Stargate - and oh my god, why did no one tell me about the theme song having words now? You can go quite far, but you don't need a car or even a ship! And Potter Puppet Pals and random things.

And we just talked, for hours and hours and hours. And we were studenty, deciding that a messy bedroom was due to entropy and it was pointless to argue against it, and about poor [character from Harry Potter] having no [spoiler] and no [spoiler] and IT WAS JUST GOOD FUN.

I was horrendously sorry to leave. I honestly was.

So that was great. And work is sucky, and one of my co-workers will now forever be known on this website as Smeghead because he is an absolute cunt and I might actually be forced to kill him. He believes they cannot sack him. Fortunately, I have no scruples, reporting his planned skive to the deputy matron who assures me that he really can be sacked and if possible it will be her that does it. Ahahaha.

I am twenty in three days. There are no words to describe how much this terrifies me.

Finally, Eleven Movies Saved By Historical Inaccuracy is really tremendously funny. Read it.

We have to imagine that if Mel Gibson were forced to play a role any more layered than that of the just and righteous warrior-king-redeemer, his face would melt off from the challenge, revealing the circuitry within.

OMG I cried laughing at that.

I think i heard the bit about Napolean basing Paris on Southport too. And why does no-one from outside the northwest believe that we can have both a seaside resort with no sea, and a pier in a town 30 miles inland?!
