Oct. 1st, 2007 01:21 pmSt Andrews is probably the worst place in the history of ever in terms of sorting out where to find your lectures. It is on naught but a wish and a prayer I tend to get myself to the first ones, but I honestly think that it's not just poor planning but, in fact, the final test to see if you're too dumb for university. You know, natural selection - if you can't find the class, you're probably not good enough for it.
Today I turned up a grand total of three days early for my first class. Right time, right place, wrong day. *facepalm* A fabulous way to begin honours classes, I think you'll agree.
Although after the shambles of the Societies's Fair yesterday, I'm not all that surprised. Firstly, no one thought about setting up the tables in advance. Electricity wasn't sorted out. (I paid a fiver for it!) We have a raffle prize of a TARDIS wardrobe, and the DoSDA broke it. Oh, and despite handing our account books in bang on time four months ago our accounts have not been audited yet with no news on when we can, say, access the money in our accounts. We are somehow expected to hold events.
I am, as such, typing this whilst trying to think of a decent way to go to the Cash Office rather than go a bit ballistic instead.
... not really been the best of days. On the bright side, we had a lot of genuine enthusiasm ("DocSoc! Yay! Cool!") and ended up with a very respectable 181 members, which I think means we've once again beaten all the political parties put together. Ah, apathy.
I am going swing-dancing in half an hour and tonight I am probably going to someone's 21st birthday party. That, or sit in front of the telly. That works, too.
