As people may know by my fairly regular whinging, it has been a spectacularly bad week. It has been quite a while since I had a good whinge at my mother, since she normally rambles on at me for half an hour until I make an excuse and go. However, I actually managed to have a good complain to her earlier on this week, and she advised me to go out and get drunk.

"I HAVE NO MONEY," I wailed. Which is not true, I do, but it's pigeon-holed for useful stuff, like food and bills and my rent cheque.

Anyway, apparently she owed me money. It was so long ago that I lent her it that I don't remember her not paying back, but due to my parents complete lack of contribution towards my education, I fail to complain on the off chance they do fling some money at me. She phoned me up yesterday to inform me that she'd transferred the money, and lo, I went out and drank alcohol at AltSoc, which was great fun but not the point of this story.

Mum mentioned she'd been to the consultant for a check-up, who cheerfully informed her that the lymph node came back cancer-free. This is obviously very good news, and indeed, would be better news had anyone, including the district nurses who looked after her post-op, knew that they'd removed a lymph node.

I am very pro the NHS. My parents both work in it, for example, and I feel a bit bad working in the private sector of the health industry. This, however, has just knocked everyone out for a loop. What king of awful, terrible consultant doesn't bother to tell anyone that it wasn't just a hernia op? It wasn't on the notes; the GP had no idea either. Mum now has to take an extra month off work to help the internal healing that she had no idea was happening.

She has complained, fairly obviously. No chance of compensation, though; the compensation would come out of the Merseycare PCT. (Primary Care Trust.) They pay both my parents wages. Oh, the irony.

I mean, it's worked out alright in the end, but still.

And now I am going to write my essay with only a minor hangover and last night's make-up still on. Hurrah, etc.

Errr ... I have no idea what to say to that. It sounds awful. I'm very glad she's cancer-free, though, and *hugs* for your bad week. When does your term finish? Hope it's soon, anyway.

There's nothing to say because it's just so... wtf, NHS?

Term finishes not for AGES and AGES and AGES. Officially the 21st. 21st!! Luckily my classes and whatnot mean I can be home on the 20th, but still. Flipping university.
