hathycolYesterday I made a timeline of Pepys's life as well as some of the major political themes of the time, and then slogged through 2/3 of The Shorter Pepys which might sound like the easy thing to do, but given that this is the sort of man that organised his sock drawer by colour and size, the mini-version is still heavier than a couple of bags of sugar. I Did Good, although I should have read all this in sensible mini-bites over the holiday but there we are.
Today I have just made notes on the Wars of Independence and William Wallace, but now I'm checking imdb.com for the details and then I'm going to have to watch Braveheart again. For revision.
There is a faint possibility that I am, in fact, taking a mickey mouse course. I try and defend this with my little diagrams and brainstorms that I will write notes on throughout the film and that I do honestly have to write about this kind of stuff in the exams, and I have a lot of reading to do about the topic, but honestly. (I do feel the same about literature subjects; I always feel that reading fiction, even if it's in the exam, is still a bit of a mickey mouse.)
Oh well. Time to go and make a toastie and then get on with watching the film. Hopefully I will have finished eating by the time the love scene turns up.
And before anyone shouts LAZY STUDENT too loudly, please try and remember that I have been up since 6.20am, done a shift a work and done my laundry. If I was being a proper arts student I would still be in bed. Okay, I'm sat on my bed but that doesn't count. Honest.
