Feb. 5th, 2008 01:54 pmWell, I passed my exams.
Middle Ages and Movies - 16.7
Samuel Pepys and His World - 15.4
Gosh. That's pleasantly surprising.
I have put my car into the garage again and rather typically, it's behaving itself now rather than trying to have the exhaust escape via the back seat as it did yesterday on the trip to Dundee. Argh argh argh.
Anyway. Today isPancake Day Shrove Tuesday, so there we are. Pancakes tonight and Lent tomorrow. I had a vague list of stuff to give up:
1. Drink. But then, I like drink and I like going out once every two weeks. Lent is about the only time I can get out before the exam/essay hell cycle kicks in again.
2. Chocolate. Oh fuck no.
3. Biscuits/swearing/chips. Been done before.
4. Tea. The fact I might self-implode and take out the universe would cause issues.
So huh, I thought. And then I hit on it. This Lent, I will be giving up frivolous spending, something that is causing me problems and makes me feel bad. I do not need to go to Primark, I do not need to eat the ridiculous amount of food that I am doing, I should set budget limits each week and stick to them... I should basically start living sensibly again. And at the end of Lent, I should hopefully have re-trained myself to not be such a mindless consumer.
I hope.
