It's been a busy few days. Given that it is now Week 2 and I have a presentation to do a week on Friday, I felt it was high time I started doing some academic work. This is why I have spent the last few days mainlining Primeval (I have no shame, and I don't think 'fancying Hannah from S Club 7 a bit' is an excuse), sorting out DocSoc stuff and cleaning the house. Obviously.

In all seriousness, I have some very good intentions to start working soon, honestly. I have some books on my desk that I may or may not actually read today. I am also currently filling in application forms and attenting careers talk with the manic look in my eye of "I NEED TO BE EMPLOYED WHEN I LEAVE THIS PLACE AND I AM DOING A FOOLISH DEGREE." I am aware that it would significantly aid my degree and therefore my job chances if I were to get out of my pajamas and perhaps trot down to the library, but thus far the most significant piece of research towards my courses thus far has been DocSoc last night, when we watched The Stones of Blood and they referenced some Welsh stuff and Henry VIII in short succession.

You see, I'm currently feeling a little 'blah' about my course selections as thus far, all I've done is express a visceral horror at the pronunciation of medieval Welsh (not as much trouble as the JSAs are having, I suspect; at least eighteen years being nearish to Wales helps a tiny bit) and attempting to try and puzzle my way through The Wars of the Roses. So, yeah. Basically I just have no connection with either subject just yet, which doesn't make me want to work. Unfortunately, as of next week I'm starting on the essay research and then I'm stuck in the cycle until May. ARGH ARGH ARGH.

Okay. Stuff To Do:

1. Reading for Henry VIII class. On Henry VII. Don't ask.
2. Reading for Edward I class.
3. Fill in application forms.
4. Wrangle through the web of beaurocracy for DocSoc; I now have to fill in risk assessment forms which sort of just makes me want to drink bleach during a meeting to prove a point, as well as the equally tiresome budget proposal forms.

I have to do some stuff that involves leaving the house, but I have no inclination to do this. My knee is throbbing rather alarmingly and has been hurting like hell all morning, which made work a barrelful of laughs. As, of course, it always is.

Hey I took a class in Middle Welsh. It was great. That was when the professor (after my breakdown over welsei-->guelet-->see note p. whatever, "I looked at all the notes and it never explained it!" "... Honey, that's because it means 'see'...") decreed that I would never be allowed to use the dictionary alone and I knew history, classics, and medieval studies were barred to me as career paths forevermore.

So, in a way, Middle Welsh broke me, but that hasn't taken away my delight in words like Pwyll, mympwy, and threigylgweith, and my amusement at the concept of initial mutation.

Let's just say that it was much more amusing than the time I realized I could never be a mathematician.
In fourth grade.
Or the time I realized I'd never be a scientist...

I can do medieval history. That's fine. I can puzzle through medieval English. But medeival Welsh and place-names that no longer exist?

I don't stand a change. *headdesk*

I have been procrastinating by going with a flatamte to the common to walk her two dogs and two other dogs he walks.

I have been procrastinating doing uni work by doing exercise! Dear god what is wrong with me?

Exercise is probably better than my current method of 'eat chocolate and download telly', to be fair.

I want to get a dog now. I've seen one I like at Battersea.
Obviously not as a form of procrastination. But because I've always wanted one.

Except I know my mother would not approve... so I need to decide.
