This weekend my parents came to stay. It was, actually, rather awesome in a sort of boozy way, because that is apparently how I communicate with my parents. They arrived on Saturday (I knew it was the Liverpool train arriving because of all the girls in rollers) and after showing them to the flat and drinking tea and generally chatting, we ended up going to the pub. This was part of my cunning plan to show my mum that actually London is not scary and where we live is sort of normal, except it was raining and there was confusion with the buses. That aside, we arrived at the pub, drank rather a lot of drinks, and then headed back to our flat for copious amounts of curry.
Mum is now chilled with London. Which, basically, was the point.
Sunday was a day of glorious sunshine in central London, and what was meant to be a fairly low key day seeing some of the sights turned into a sight seeing pub crawl in the sun. I saw the pelicans in Green Park! Yay!
Anyway. Basically, a good weekend. Plus, I dropped them off at Euston at lunchtime and had the afternoon to myself in order to chill out ans relax. I did a massive batch of cleaning on the Friday so everything was all sparkly and marvellous. I'm easy to please.
This week has mostly consisted of the Margaret Thatcher funeral - a weird day in central London but I did see Jon Snow on the way into work, which was quite exciting as a celebrity spot goes. Tomorrow Richie and I are seeing Fiona. We all went out for a drink on Wednesday and it turned out that Fiona had only ever seen Star Trek 1 and 11. This is what could be described as a TRAVESTY because she hasn't seen THE ONE WITH THE WHALES OMG WHAT so we're going to have a bit of a marathon this weekend. It's all good.
