May. 15th, 2008 04:19 pmSo, after a fair few hours of sitting around and waiting for the phone to ring, I finally got a phone call from Fat Face. They informed me they hadn't yet reached a decision, but would definitely phone me when they had. Probably on Tuesday.
Fed up of this, I told them that I was having other interviews and was waiting for the results from them. They said 'okay' and after I put the phone down, I thought 'oops' and figured that was the end of that.
ANYWAY. I just got a phone call back from them, which I figured was my doom.
"Hi," said the manager. "My assistant manager told me that you had other interviews on the way..."
"Er," I said, slightly sheepishly. "I need a job for the summer, and I need it to be settled."
"Oh, yes, that's fine," she replied. "To be honest, we're just still deciding on a few candidates, but we were going to offer you the 20 hour a week post, and we don't want to lose you!"
"Okay, yes, I'll take it!" was my slightly over-enthusiastic response. The rate of pay is decent and whilst I'll have to deal with the public, my heavy lifting will be at a minimum, and at no point will human bodily fluids by involved. SCORE. As my history of working has been Homebase (in which I wore a bright green and oragne uniform), cleaning, Chinese delivery, tutoring, caring, and a bit more more cleaning, this is a STEP UP THE LADDER INDEED.
I feel a bit of a tool that I'll be leaving early - I told them that I'd have to leave in September, when in fact I'm off a couple of weeks earlier - but I might find somewhere to doss for a couple of weeks. Or, you know, I'll just make up something and scarper. Either way.
So that's me sorted for the summer; enough time to sort out my dissertation whilst working a fairly respectable part time, and then I'll just supplement my wages with the nursing home over the end of August and a bit of September.
Yay me! Etc.
