May. 28th, 2008 07:33 pmI'm turning in to my mother. Although I have yet to turn into a smoker, or diet in ways that border on obsessive, I am apparently now just parenting my housemates. This is not new - I once came back from a trip to Cambridge to discover that my first year housemates had existed off cake and Martini for a weekend. However, I spent yesterday giving lifts to Sarah for her extra-curricular work and spent today cleaning the house.
Well, not all of the house. I'm doing it in stages and today was Hallway and Bathroom. In that bathroom I have seen things that people SHOULD NEVER SEE. However, now half the house is pristine, but the kitchen and living room are the big jobs. What fun that promises to be.
LEST YOU ALL THINK I'M DULL and what could be dull about spending one's first holiday from academic and paid work cleaning I do not know, I have been doing other things. Yesterday evening, as Sarah was cooking up a buffet for a hundred people and I felt it was best I was out of the house, was a big Doctor Who viewing fest. We sat through far too much Old Skool who and drank and ate dips. I am now knackered, as I was awake all night and morning due to Sarah running around and banging doors. I am not sure how this is connected to cooking but I'm not very good at it, and we was jolly good potato salad, so I won't judge.
Today I went to the aforementioned buffet thing and then went to pick up my work uniform. The shop is a fairly expensive one (by my standards, admittingly) so I wasn't sure what was going on with uniform? Discount? A small allowance?
OH NO. I have a 75% discount and a £240 allowance. With the discount. That is a hella lot of clothing. I've been slowly trying to update my wardrobe - my jeans are ancient and falling apart, notably - and now it seems I am given the means to. My contract is only for the summer! Do they know?
And that's me done. I'm going to go and put a facepack on and then I'm going to watch Britain's Got Talent. WOOOOOO.
