hathycolSo, let's pretend that alternate universes in which people are exactly the same but for a goatee of some description are real. I say 'pretending', as this scenario has been in Star Trek making it trufax. I digress. I occasionally wonder what the alternative!Colleens are like.
At the moment, one alternative!Colleen - I keep on thinking of her as happy!Colleen, which is probably unhelpful in the grand scheme of things - is currently eating a meal. She is in Cambridge. She is in a ridiculous ballgown and underwear that can best be described as 'control'. She might not even be happy. She probably wouldn't like the food or something. But, you know, she'd be there.
Unfortunately, real!Colleen is currently sat on her bed. She has just had a reasonably tasty pasta bake and talked with her housemates who are lovely and sane-making. She has a DVD out and is determindly Not Thinking of what the luckily alternative!Colleen is doing right now. Real!Colleen has just spent a day in work, recommending teenage girl clothes 'for my daughter' to hordes of American golfers. Real!Colleen is very proud that she has scaled the mountain that was the stock delivery - five sacks of clothes, sorted, hung, cubed and racked - but she wishes that she hadn't have had to spend all of today, whilst doing aforementioned mountainous task, thinking about what alternative!Colleen is doing, or wishing beyond hope that the phone will ring and she'll be told it's all a horrible mistake and can leap on a train and be alternative!Colleen.
Real!Colleen, howevr, recognises this is Entirely Normal. And she recognises that if all this hadn't have happened, she wouldn't have spent last night watching the Globe Players performing Romeo and Juliet in the Castle ruins whilst getting slightly rained on. She doesn't half wish, though, it would rain in Cambridge tonight. She is also pissed that is is still, at this moment, paying for alternative!Colleen's night out. She would give anything to be alternative!Colleen. She is surviving. Oooh, she has an alternative universve icon and everything.
[eta: OH HAI bitter irony. I have recently put on a fair amount of weight - about half a stone in a short period of time - which pushes me up to my acceptable limits. (I'm not detailing what they are; they're personal.) I was not dieting, I never am, I just had a vague plan to, for two months at least, think about what I was eating, eat more fruit, more water. General stuff. This was in preperation for the Doesn't Quite Fit ballgown that happy!Colleen is wearing tonight. General plan wasn't working about three weeks back. Just weighed myself for a laugh and it turns out I am, in fact, dropping weight like a stone. Man, hauling clothes around is doing me some good; I'm eating three sqaure meals a day, often involving more cheese/mayonnaise/hideous combo of both than is healthy. I did think my work jeans were a bit less snug, but... weh?
