Jul. 13th, 2008 08:15 pmAfter whinging for months about how dull my summer was shaping up to be and how I had nothing to look forward to, I now actually have stuff to do!
Wednesday is an Ikea Day, as we need to replace a lot of the crap that we've broken. I'm spending the weekend in Glasgow with Sarah. Having never been out on the gay scene before, or indeed having ever been to Glasgow, this promises to be a good laugh. More excitingly, though, I'm off to my first convention since before I came to university! This is because all conventions are rather rudely organised in places I can't realistically get to in a weekend, or are around times of exams. However, despite the fact I won't actually be in Scotland at that point in time, I can always haul my arse out of bed that morning and drive to Glasgow in about three hours. Or I could kip on someone's floor. I'm undecided. I am, however, officially Excited, even though the only guest I'm really after is Peter Davison.
So that is my summer. Primarily based around Glasgow, I admit, but still very exciting.
The rest is the start of what we're all cheerfully code-naming the Big Fuck-Off Sale - 36 hour weeks, oh yay - and really getting into my dissertation, of which I am currently powering through, but mostly because a little voice in my head is really starting to worry that I only realistically have a month to finish the majority of research on this fucker. I also need to e-mail my supervisor but my healthy fear of him means I'm putting this off. I'm beginning to quite get into it, and had a eureka moment when, half way through some reading, I a. indentified where the majority of my history A-Level was taught from and b. remembered what The Instrument Of Government was and what it is. Hopefully this means the rest of it will stop being so utterly baffling and I'll be able to get on with this. I mean, I have fairly extenuating circumstances about why I sort of didn't pick it up for May and most of June, but I really don't want to have to explain this to my thoroughly unsympathetic supervisor.
