hathycol: (grouchy tea)

I'm sat under my quilt - winter quilt now - with several million layers on and I'm still bloody freezing. I know it's winter and all, but the ground frost hasn't actually lifted for about four days now and I'm getting a wee bit fed up of being chilly. It's making doing my reading a little tricky, and I can actually feel myself getting ill. I can't afford to have the heating on all day, just in the evening, so... hey ho.

Erm, what else? Ugh, quiet week really. Off to Glasgow Collectormania next weekend, which is very exciting indeed but does mean I have lots of work to do; my essay and a chunk of my dissertation is due the day after I get back, so that basically means I have to do them by Friday. Hence the fact that after I go and make a cup of green tea (yes, I am becoming one of those students) I am going to continue desperately reading through accounts of female saints in the middle ages before I go out later on today for AltSoc and Christmas lights based purposes.

It is certainly cold today - it was minus 5.1 here by late afternoon. I sympathise with the feeling chilly and the lack of heat - is your hamster keeping warm enough? We have a 'snugglesafe' for Pumpkin and I think he's warmer than us!

I was going to ask you about that! Mister lives in the warmest room in the house, but, well, we're a bit worried about the poor thing. Were do you get a snugglesafe?

We bought ours from here: http://www.snugglesafe.co.uk/

You just microwave it for a few minutes, and then we put it underneath the cage itself. You could put it inside the cage but we find it heats it up perfectly well just keeping it underneath it, and it's a lot less messy! My sister - who worked in an animal care unit - recommends them as they are safe enough for animals to sit directly on, go to the toilet on, chew, etc. She uses one for her three-legged chipmunk (appropriately named Tripod!) who lives in a massive cage in my parents' unheated garage, and it's seen him through several winters.
