So, last night was DocSoc followed by Going To The Bop, as it was Claire's 21st. I haven't been properly bopping for a shocking amount of time, and I was terrified that they'd just play crap music all night, or that my currently wavering-madly alcohol tolerance would play up again. You see, anyone who followed this LJ in my first-year will remember that me and [livejournal.com profile] stupidore had a Bop routine, and every Friday night signalled going out and getting absolutely wasted in as short and cheap a way as possible before dancing like lunatics for about three hours before staggering home and complaining that our feet hurt. I loved those Fridays, I really did; but somewhere along the line, we got old, the music stopped being so gloriously cheesy, other social events happened, and I sold my soul to AltSoc on a Friday night. So, well, I was looking forward to it, as well as being a bit wary that I was Too Old For This.

We had a few drinks, and sat and chatted for a while, before deciding to dance. Some more drinks were had - well, it was a 21st celebration after all - and then we danced for about two hours solid. This morning my feet are killing me, my ears are still slightly ringing, my voice hurts from howling along all night and I'm absolutely shattered. I also have a teensy hangover, not particularly bad but feeling a little queasy.

And I had the best night ever. Oh, man, I missed Bopping. I couldn't do this every week in the way I used to, because seriously people, I hurt this morning, but it was fabulous to sing and dance along to cheese (they played Steps! STEPS! and the Vengaboys! most people would not consider this a good night out I realise) and decent dance music that represents the sort of thing the Bop used to be good at.

Now I have to get back to working, since, you know, exam in a week and debate and so on and so forth, but that was a very nice interlude indeed.

(Also I got carnival beads! Huzzah! Didn't have any pancakes, though. Woe. For Lent I am going to try and be healthy, so possibly when the mild hangover eases I will be off swimming. Oh, the excitement.)
