On Monday night we had HOSPITAL ADVENTURES. I think my favourite part about it was that I was in no way medically compromised for a change. Hurrah!

On unday, Richie was sorting out the garden and got bitten by something. It looked fairly unpleasant but we thought no more of it, catching up with Ann and Dee and Fiona on Sunday and having general fun times. The next morning, Richie complained it was itchy but slapped some cream on it (he tends to get problems with insect bites) and went to work in a long-sleeved top.

I got a pathetic text message request for pizza and anti-histamines. Picked them up, came home, and looked alarmed at his arm. Still, we waited for it to get sorted but within an hour the wound was oozing worse and the red bits arounn it were hot to the touch and spreading rapidly. "That looks like cellulitis," I said.

Reluctantly, Richie phoned NHS Direct, who asked him too many times for my liking if he had been bitten by a spider. (What is going on in the gardens of east London?!) Within a three minute questionnaire Richie had an appointment at Whipps Cross. Having never been there before we trundled out into the night - I do miss driving but London is just no fun for it - saw an urban fox, and waited around in A+E until his appointment came up.

Anyway, Richie has an excitingly nasty infection so is on some super strong painkillers. They were very emphatic he had to come STRAIGHT BACK if it got worse, but that doesn't seem to have happened, which is something, I suppose.

So that was the main part of my week that wasn't focussing on trying to keep warm. Nowhere near yet cold enough for the heating but definitely slippers weather...
