I have survived this week. I feel quite pleased with myself, all things considered.
The inlaws duly arrived and I spent a lot of time making slightly awkward small talk and eating too much. We went to see The Bodyguard on Tuesday was which a bit er. Well.
Basically, I got very drunk. A woman in the row behind us had a stroke. I dealt with this by drinking more. Wednesday gave me a hilariously terrible headache, the type where you have to get off the Tube a couple of times in order not to pass out and then spend a day in work trying not to let people see the shakes. I'm not proud of this. It also meant that Wednesday night was a bit interesting, as it was the Den of Geek pub quiz and I was definitely in no fit state to drink! The quiz itself was good, though. Andrew writes for Den of Geek (I remember seeing his name there for the first time and going "wait, is that the Andrew Blair I know?") and did a fair few of the questions. We only heckled a wee bit.
Anyway. That meant another late night, so Thursday was simply survived and then I had an early night in preparation for my busy Friday. I was due to go out and had an outfit ready to bring in a bag, which I promptly left on the kitchen table. Cue panic and Richie very kindly saving my bacon by running out on his lunch beak to grab it, with me running around to come and meet him at his work. Phew. The evening itself wasn't too bad - it was for a work friend's birthday at a club (a club!!) in Leicester Square. It was on the 7th floor and had a spectacular view, but I only stayed until about 11.30pm, when I got the train home. And a kebab. Shush.
Last night I was also out (I AM TOO SOCIAL THESE DAYS) for Fiona's birthday. I spent quite a lot of Saturday daytime in bed, I must admit, but I got a pileof 80s stuff together and headed out to get ready at Fiona's. Ended up having a really lovely night - met some new people and we all went out to Reflex in the City, where we spent a few hours battling the queues at the bar and dancing like a mad thing to lots of 80s tunes. It was good fun, only slightly marred by me having to have a massive rant at the taxi firm I'd booked a taxi with. They failed to turn up, and then at 1.15pm (15 minutes after the time I'd booked) I had a call from the driver, telling me he was in Hackney. Flipped my lid at firm and we did eventually get a taxi, but it was cold and rainy in the meanwhile. Brrr.
Anyway. I am spending today doing very little - BLISS - unless you count looking out the window at this massive storm that's apparently on the way. Currently it is Quite Windy so we'll just have to wait and see - the news updates have gone from 'gale force winds' to 'hurricane force winds' so with any luck both the house and the car will still be here by morning!
