Jun. 1st, 2009 08:34 pmFirst things first, I am not dead. My liver possibly wishes I was. It has been a long, long week, but one that I have thoroughly enjoyed!
Wednesday night heralded my first ever barbeque that I've held. It was fabulously good fun. A few of The DocSoc Crew came around and we sat under a grey sky and made our own weight in burgers, veggie burgers and sausages. Alison made daisy chains while Richie took over the cooking duties, and the dichotemy made me giggle, with hellish flames on one side and a hippie drinking beers in the long grass and making daisy chains. Great fun indeed! We then went inside, and drank too much (okay, well, I did) and watched Invasion of the Dinosaurs, Timeflight and First Contact. At some point a Sleepytime Wang was flung around (... long story) and generally fun was had.
Terrible hangover the next day, mind; I did soehow find the effort within me to go to Dundee and then to go to DRA with Lucy, who introduced to us the wonder of organised skipdiving. Okay, we weren't actually diving into skips, it was into the Games Room where they had piles and piles of stuff students were just leaving behind. I took loads and loads of food, a free pair of hair straighteners (really!), books, and a few other bits and bobs. It was properly brilliant, and I wish I'd gone earlier.
Friday was the Bop. It has been a long, long time since I went Bopping with Katie, and to go back again was absolutely wonderful. The DJ was brilliant and played all the songs that I remember from being a first year, and I danced around happily in a dress and drank way, way, way too much alcohol. It ended too quickly, but it was worth every single moment.
I spent much of the next day in work, very aware of the fact I was still drunk. This is because I am a Classy Bird.
Now it's Monday. The future is an unmapped one, pretty much; that scares me quite a bit in places, but for the immediate future it's actually a rather tempting prospect. The sun is shining and will hopefully continue to do so for some time. I need to clean, but mostly I just want to sit in the garden and read as much fiction for as long as I physically possibly can. Wa and indeed hey, for now.

Date: 2009-06-01 10:56 pm (UTC)This unmapped future thing is rather terrifying, isn't it? But I'm not applying for any more jobs until I graduate.
By the way, Iona is (hopefully) visiting me at some point in the near future, and it goes without saying (but I shall say it nonetheless) that you are also very welcome to visit me in Durham, should the idea take your fancy. :) Otherwise, I believe I may be visiting your neck of the woods in the summer sometime. Hopefully see you again at some point relatively soon, anyway.

Date: 2009-06-02 04:20 pm (UTC)Let me know the Durham dates and I will descend if work permits. It's all very up in the air for me, but I'd love to come and see you while I still can! I might be able to hop down for a day or so...

Date: 2009-06-03 11:21 pm (UTC)I'm not sure when Iona is visiting, but I will let you know. You are welcome at pretty much any time, though; for a day or for more, whatever you like/can make. :)
