Dec. 22nd, 2013 04:54 pmI started thinking about this at the start of the month. Last year was really quite exciting whereas this year has been more sedate. Still, looking over last year's answers I am pleased for some sleep and a quieter year. Perhaps. Onwards!
01. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?
I haven't done it yet but I'm going to India at the end of this year, which is pretty exciting.
I have also starting having A Career, which is a lovely change.
02. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Last year's was: Sit down quietly and attempt not to have any major life changes.
I have had no major life changes and have instead made a solid life here. GO ME.
Next year, I would like to resolve to do some learning, in a formal setting. More on this anon.
03. Did someone close to you give birth?
No. That said, 2013 has been the year of Loads Of People You Peripherally Know From Your Childhood And Or Work With On Facebook Getting Pregnant which has been a little surreal.
04. Did anyone close to you die?
No, and I am grateful for this.
05. What countries did you visit?
Scotland, and in less than a week I will be in India.
06. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
Some HR qualifications. And perhaps a new bed.
07. What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Almost certainly Christmas of this year. LOOK IT'S AN EXCITING TIME.
08. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?
I know I keep banging on about it, but settling into work and being happy.
Cosplaying as Thor. That was HELLA AWESOME.
09. What was your biggest failure(s)?
Being crap with money. Really need to sort that out.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Touch wood, it's been a remarkably healthy year. LET'S NOT JINX THAT EH?
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I think possibly my sari?
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Richie's.
My friends who have been so marvellous this year.
A bloke on the Tube on Friday night who told his mate to stop harrassing me and putting his arm around me, and physically pulled his arm off me.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Twats on the Tube who decided that harrassing a tipsy woman by herself was a hilarious idea. Thanks, guys, really makes a Friday evening in the pub fun knowing I'll have to run that gamut.
14. Where did most of your money go?
London. Christ, this place is expensive and has LOADS OF FUN THINGS TO DO which is a terrible, terrible combination.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to India! I am SO EXCITED!
Also about seeing Thor 2.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or Sadder? Happier.
ii. Thinner or fatter? Thinner.
iii. Richer or Poorer? Richer.
WAHEY.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Going to the cinema, actually; it's just so flipping expensive and Wood Green is such a horrid place that I have to push myself to do it. Which is a shame because I've missed out on loads of ace films.
Writing.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
I wish I had spent less time with The Wine Weasel but that may just be a seasonal thing.
Getting lost.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Tali and Anwar are coming for Christmas! I am super excited. I'm working on Christmas Eve (doing a sodding interview in the afternoon as well, rubbish for sneaking out purposes) and then coming home to hopefully see Richie preparing Party Buffet Stuff. Christmas day will involve two kinds of meat (oh dear) and enough vegetables and things on the side to feed a small army. And then on Boxing Day I'm going to India. DID I MENTION THAT I'M GOING TO INDIA?
22. Did you fall in love in 2012?
I never answer this question.
23. How many one-night stands?
None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Doctor Who, particularly if you include all of the specials around the 50th anniversary. Peaky Blinders. Ripper Street.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.
26. What was the best book you read?
The Hunger Games. Only several years late.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Portishead – again, I am very out of date with pop culture it seems.
28. What did you want and get?
Er? Idid find a cheap pub in London, does that count?
29. What did you want and not get?
Definitely a lottery win.
30. Favourite film of this year?
It's been a difficult year to pick but Pacific Rim. Sorry, various Marvel sequels, you were ace but completely missing giant robots fighting monsters.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 26. Woe is me. Went for a lovely meal at Polpo, which was delicious.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Again, it's been a brilliant year. A lottery win would be nice. Oooh, or perhaps a transporter so I can avoid the commute.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
'I Am Pleased I Kept This Because It Fits Again'
Also this year I discovered leggings.
34. What kept you sane?
Avengers fanfiction. I don't care if it's lame, having a phone I can read fic on has meant I've basically eaten up the movieverse fic. It's been ace.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
OH BEAUTIFUL IVETA FROM STRICTLY COME DANCING, YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL.
I have no idea where this crush came from, but when she left the show I was devastated. GIVE HER A GOOD CELEBRITY NEXT YEAR.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
This stupid fucking government and stupid fucking cuts for the most vulnerable people in our society. IT'S NOT A RECOVERY IF THE RED CROSS HAVE TO GIVE OUT FOOD PARCELS.
37. Who do you miss?
Family, and copious amounts of friends who are not based in London.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
My new colleagues. And Elspeth at the pub quizzes!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013:
Spontenaity is really good fun.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
“Pictures or it didn't happen.”
