Jul. 11th, 2010 02:14 pmLast night I watched The Voyage Home and lo! there were whales, and nuclear wessels, and I don't care who knows it, I love that film like pie.
Anyway, having watched all of Deep Space Nine and having seen pretty much all of Voyager via the medium of repeats on Voyager, I have decided that it is high time for a Next Generation re-watch. I have seen most of it, I think, via the medium of repeats and even original transmissions. I even remember a Blue Peter episode about the Borg. (And to think that kids today are freaked out by Weeping Angels. Aged 9 I was being encouraged to watch Picard try and assimilate the universe. It is probably a good thing that Who is back on the telly.) Although I can piece together significant parts of the story in the way that I couldn't for Deep Space Nine (I went into it knowing that the Dominion were bad, and that at some point the Romulans would get involved, but that was it) I can't remember how it fits into the Trek story as a whole.
So there we go. Plus I am told that there was Cardassians and frankly I am all for seeing Cardassians at their most evil.
Also, why did no one tell me that Joseph Sisko is an integral part of The Voyage Home? I found myself being very puzzled to see him in Starfleet uniform and in San Francisco.
[eta: there are an awful lot of men in minidresses thus far. I was two when this was filmed. It's quite depressing that they couldn't make the same wardrobe decision in this day and age, although from a sheer practicality point of view I do understand the lurch towards jumpsuits for all...]
