I had the bestest Friday in the whole world ever.
Firstly, I got Take That tickets. It was a difficult proposition and involved a team effort by the office I work in and it took seven and a half hours but I got the tickets. I threw my arms into the air, tilted my head back, and shrieked "YES!" C, the new girl in the office, was dealing with a complaint on the phone. Oops. I am very glad that was a day that a. it was quiet and b. neither of my bosses were in.
Secondly, Richie turned up! I was aware this was going to happen, obviously, but it's always lovely when it happens, even though it does involve faffing about in Wigan. So that was a lovely start, too.
Then Richie and I came back to my house, threw food down our necks and then Prepared For A Night Out. This is always a fun activity, but never more so than when it involves fancy dress. Given that it was 80s stuff, I basically howled at my mum "HELP ME" so my costume was essentially my mother circa 1985 - glasses, perm, lots of blue eyeshadow. I realised within about thirty seconds that I had been roundly outdone by Richie who rocked up as Adam Ant!
This theme continued all evening. Us girls were in lovely generic 80s gear, whilst we were outdone by the lads who looked like the greatest edition of Top of the Pops ever. Apart from Richie as Adam Ant, we had a Rick Astley, Michael Jackson, Robert Smith and Debbie Harry. It was AWESOME. The evening started by applying a fair bit of make up/backcombing to Dobbin as Robert Smith during which he spent a lot of time shouting "ROBERT SMITH OFF OF THE CURE HAD BIGGER HAIR!" We managed to get the train into Liverpool with time to spare and went to Reflex, which is a big eighties bar. It was marvellous good fun as we danced to lots of cheesy 80s music and I resisted the urge to rip the eyes out of the women that latched onto Richie. Later on we headed to the Krazyhouse which is a marvellously skeezy club for rock sorts. It was a fabulous, fabulous night. I even have pictures!

Adam Ant and Rick Astley have a chat. Or, Richie and Matt talk about the 80s, possibly.

Robert Smith points out his band. Or, Dobbin is annoyed that people assumed he was Russell Brand. (Dobbin is not his real name. We just call him that. I forget why.)

Debbie Harry. Or Phil. Either way. Accompanied my Michael Jackson. That is not his real hair.

Top of the Pops audience members.

Adam Ant is attacked by some nutter with an enormous perm, dodgy lipstick and a double chin.
(Actually, that is my real hair, to an extent. I normally put mousse in it and make it be all curly put also contained - this is what happens if it dries naturally, gets a quick jiggle with a plastic hairbrush and has lots of hairspray to make that flammable 80s effect. Other than that, it's basically what I look like.)
In conclusion, it was a lovely weekend. Richie is gone, so I have spent tonight doing a numeracy test for a job (conclusion: massive failure) and now I'm catching up on telly. At least I had a good weekend to remember, though, even if work remains fairly bleak. Don't ask. It's been a long day.
