I found myself very much enjoying Harry Potter last night. Jo couldn't come in the end, alas, so Richie and I wandered up at what we thought was plenty of time to spare. We were wrong in this, and watched the film from the very very very front of the cinema. "Pretend it's an iMax," I suggested. It failed.

That said, it was still very good. The battle of Hogwarts was very well staged, except for the fact there were a full twenty minutes in the middle that had me bawling away, pretty much as soon as Lupin and Tonks turned up. OH GOD WHY OH WHY. So it's all very sad and distressing but quite noisy so I could get away with tears and the occasional quite loud gulp, and then it all goes very quiet very suddenly so I had to do that unattractive thing where you desperately try to stop crying and just sort of snort a bit. I heard a lot of other people doing the same thing, which was comforting.

I'm very, very sad that it's all over though. Harry Potter was a bit part of my life, as I'm one of those people who timed their ages around it, pretty much. And now it's all gone, much like being a teenger. Alas.

Also there was a trailer for Aliens and Cowboys which, I'm sorry, I think it looks BRILLIANT and I care not who knows it.

It has James Bond, Indiana Jones, and aliens in it. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE WRONG WITH THINKING IT LOOKS BRILLIANT?

I KNOW IT LOOKS LIKE THE BEST FILM EVER.

And then Richie is all 'ugh, lame' and people in the cinema were sniggering and all I could think was WHAT IS WRONG WITH HUMANITY JUST WHAT.

Yes, throughout a lot of the film all I could hear was other people sniffling. I did quite well at crying silently though which was good.

I did however start crying from the minute they started casting spells to protect Hogwarts just because I knew what was going to happen.

& when Remus & Tonks stretched out their hands to each other!

Strangely I didn't care that Lavender Brown was dead on the floor & being eaten.

I THINK IT LOOKS BRILLIANT TOO.

(I have no interest in Harry Potter, sorry. My only contact with it has been one-half of the sixth movie, which a friend forced me to watch and I found unamusing, and my little sister's revamping / expansion of the house system into a more in-depth personality analysis thing. ...my little sister is odd, yeah.)

A lot of people aren't interested, which is no bad thing! IT SAVES MANY EMBARRASING TEARS.

I haven't seen a trailer for Aliens and Cowboys - our best trailer before HP was for the new Sherlock Holmes film, which looks like it's going to be lots of fun.

We didn't get that one! We got some daft kids films (something about penguins? eh) but I did get the new Batman trailer so that was okay.

I am very much looking forward to the new Sherlock Holmes film, if only for the opportunity of more shirtless Robert Downey Junior. I am so shallow.

Ah - we didn't get the Batman one (unless it was early - we missed the first couple of trailers), but we did see the penguins thing.

God, I started crying like a lunatic at the part where he's in the forest and his parents and Sirius and Remus turn up. I wanted to much to be able to see my own mom again, even if it was like that, and I had to fight so so hard to be quiet about the crying since I was seeing it with a 15 year old and 11 year old twins and didn't feel like explaining why I was crying... Ugh. But overall a great time at the movies.

And we are so seeing Cowboys and Aliens. Hell, yeah.
