The Mysterious Beeping Noise is coming from upstairs. Upstairs is an empty flat with occasional builders, and is owned by the daughter of our landlady. Am afraid to phone her up and shout the odds at her (possibly ending with "AND IF IT DOESN'T STOP SOON I WILL BURN DOWN THE FLATS SO HELP ME") so this evening I heard a builder puttering around and went upstairs.

Noise is fire alarm and it is making the noise due to being briefly shorted off the mains. Builder was delightfully sympathetic, and swore that an electrician was on the way. He came downstairs about an hour later, looking apologetic as electrician hadn't turned up. He said he didn't want to mess with it in case it set off the entire fire alarm throughout the building, which would indeed be more irritating. Apparently the landlady is coming around tonight to inspect the work, so I am looking out of the window every five minutes and preparing to coincidentally be taking the rubbish out, as I don't want to do this in a confrontational way.

If I don't see them tonight, it will become confrontational over the phone tomorrow. I will have to resist the urge to shriek incoherantly that I haven't slept for a week, BUT I HAVEN'T AND OH GOD IT'S KILLING ME and yes I am becoming weird and obsessive about this and I realise this doesn't help BUT STILL.

Anyway. I had a lovely weekend. [livejournal.com profile] stupidore came to stay, which was absolutely lovely. On Saturday we went to Liverpool and had a fabulously flaily and self-indulgent day in Liverpool, based entirely around Primark and New Quiggins. Katie bought a bowler hat, which still amazes me with how amazingly awesome that is.

We came back to the flat with aching feet and heavy arms to be neatly followed by Richie and Doc, who had been enjoying the local specialist beer shop. (This is not actually a pseudonym for a pub. We really do have a specialist beer shop around the corner.) We ended up having a really lovely evening; wine, beer, lasagne and sticky toffee pudding, as well as watching The Mind Robber. Because we are all lame, we ended up going to bed after that. Thank goodness for having a sofa and a spare room!

Katie and I attempted to go a vintage fair on Sunday, which actually sucked, so we ended up at The Weirdest Place In Southport. It's lots of second hand furniture through a few split level floors, and you get terribly lost in it but it's marvellous!

Now it is Monday, and the Mysterious Beeping Noise is still there and Katie is obviously gone back to Edinburgh, but it was a lovely weekend. And next weekend will be lovely too, as we are doing some Wedding Things and going to a convention because hell those are the best things to combine.
