Nov. 29th, 2012 05:31 pmSo I am in the new flat in London, trying to unpack for the third day running but due to a combination of factors too complex for my crappy phone I am at a dead end. Richie gets here tomorrow, and I have no TV or real internet access.
But! I can read fic! Sort of! Can anyone send me recs hosted on LJ or AO3 please? Preferably big long plotty stuff, Avengers if you have it. Help me, flist, you're my only hope.
In other news the bits of the flat I've been able to make habitable are fab, and I have mastered Where The Local Stuff is. Doing well, other than the boredom and inability to get into the loft.

Date: 2012-11-29 07:44 pm (UTC)I don't know if you've read these ones yet but they're amongst the most-read on AO3, and for good reason.
In Which Tony Stark Builds Himself Some Friends (But His Family Was Assigned by Nick Fury) Series by scifigrl47
• Part one: Some Things Shouldn't Be A Chore
• Part two: Ordinary Workplace Hazards, Or SHIELD and OSHA Aren't On Speaking Terms
• Part three: Four (Or Five) Reasons for Kidnapping Tony Stark
And so on.
This next one had me giggling like a fool. In public.
The Loki Problem by elizamechanicka
I find a good way to find excellent fic is to list the Avengers' fics on AO3 by hit count. Hope this helps!

Date: 2012-11-29 07:48 pm (UTC)* Ready, Fire, Aim (first story linked) is an Avengers series of longfics by Gyzym that everyone recommends unreservedly. I've read some of her short pieces in the same 'verse and on that basis I recommend it too. :D
* The Taking Action 'verse (first story linked, but it's a set of three simultaneous stories with different central characters) is a character-centric - with explicit sexytiems and incidental zombies - Steve/Tony/Pepper, Bruce/Natasha, Clint/Coulson set, by Closer. I forget who recced me it, but everything in this folder is recs. ;P
* A.I.s and Lullabies by Echo is a de-aged!Tony fic that apparently references child abuse but is also really sweet? I haven't read it yet, I just have a weakness for de-aging fic. ;-)
* The Butterfingers G.D.I. Stark Guide to Problem Solving by Epiphanyx7 - "In which Dummy is a kleptomaniac, You is painfully shy, Butterfingers is a programming genius, JARVIS is a sarcastic sonofabitch, Pepper takes care of Tony outside of the workshop, Bruce is Tony's boo, Thor is Tony's favourite, Clint is actually kind of smart, Steve has terrible timing, and problem-solving is never simple or easy." This one I have read. It's amazing and win. :D
* Ironsides, always-a-girl!Tony fic by Copperbadge. Who is ALWAYS AWESOME and I intend to read it, I just... haven't yet because I have no "spoons". :P
* The Armed and Dangerous 'verse by AlchemyAlice was recced me because in the third story Pepper/Coulson is apparently the most convincing thing ever. I ship competence kink liek woah, so. :D There is also apparently Tony/Bucky and teaminess going on. Haven't read it yet.
* Within It We Are Nameless by sentientcitizen - kid!Loki backstory epic. Full disclosure, this one was recced me by the author's then-girlfriend, so idk. Haven't read it, keep meaning to.
* The Only John Wayne Left In This Town by Gyzym is the one where Clint is a country star as well as an Avenger. It's awesome. :D That one's from the "favorites" folder on the Kindle. About 11,000 words.
* Childhood Heroes by iokheaira - always-a-girl!Coulson with Clint/Coulson, Teen rating, we're down under 10,000 words now but I keep meaning to read this because girl!Coulson and I think Copperbadge recced it or something.
* And Horns of a Deer, Feet of a Tiger, an Iron Man origin AU in which the Tony character is Vietnamese-American. Haven't read it, but it sounds FASCINATING. :D

Date: 2012-12-05 10:36 pm (UTC)highly organisedextremely lazy person that I am, I just asked the computer for another copy of all the labels it did me for wedding invitations, so I can use them for Christmas cards. But your label has an address on it that isn't in London.
Want a Christmas card? drop me an email, my username at the domain name in my userpic, with a postal address and we'll make sure you get one.
