Oh, god, but I needed this weekend. The car has been picked up, we started on a clean of the house yesterday (which I will finish shortly! I will finally have a sparkly bathroom!) and in the evening we went to see Guardians of the Galaxy which you should go and see. You don't need to have seen the other MCU films, honestly!

I know pretty much nothing about the comics, and only vaguely how the whole thing even fits into the whole universe anyway, but I had SO MUCH LOVE for this film. We went as a group and we were all super enthusiastic about it. Fiona is very keen to cosplay as Groot if I go as Rocket. I am... slightly debating it.

The plot was a bit handwavey - I sort of kept up and that was with advance research re: Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. Eh, who needed plot. The characters were all flat out amazing, the humour really worked, and I loved the fact that it was all! really! alien! I know I bang on about this a lot, but I love a proper alien planet with mad colours and real aliens. The whole thing felt immersive and basically wonderful.

Also, Groot. Tiny, dancing, Groot.

Also, the good thing about going for a drink in Wood Green before we left was that we could discuss ripping out the spine of someone irksome really early on. That was handy.

... fanfiction now please?

Right, to the bathroom!

I also went to see Guardians of the Galaxy last night! :D SO MUCH AWESOME. The pacing! The set-ups and callbacks! Dying surrounded by idiots! :D

And the big swordfight between Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan! And also everything about Groot. I tell you, after the movie while I was waiting for my train, I was just sitting on the platform with an enormous grin on my face, occasionally muttering "I am Groot" very quietly. BECAUSE GROOT.

And yeah, I don't really think this movie was even supposed to have a plot, exactly; its purpose is to introduce Thanos and the Infinity Stones in a way that doesn't feel too infodumpy, and also to be a hell of a lot of fun. At which it succeeds on both counts, imo. :D

(Also, as a relatively hardcore comics nerd, I note they're only doing six Infinity Stones instead of ten. I approve. Nobody can keep track of ten, but six can be conveniently rainbow-colored, and we can also have Groot casually point out during the big hologram infodump scene that the Tesseract is one. :D)

ALSO THE JET BOOTS. And the parts where pretty much everyone died at least once. And basically THE WHOLE MOVIE OKAY. ^_^ And, of course, tiny dancing Groot. *squees forever*

IT WAS SO GOOD IT MAKES ME DO THE EXCITABLE FLAPPY HANDS THING. *flaps hands wildly*

It was just so much fun! It's why I really like the MCU films - they're fun and geeky and just wonderful. THIS IS ME SQUEEING.

And oh, internet, with but two seconds on searching I found a dancing Groot gif. YAAAAAAY!

Enjoy your sparkly bathroom! I cleaned my bathroom sink and floor yesterday, and it's so nice to have it looking clean.

(I live in Wood Green! Where were you out for a drink? Admittedly, I never go out, so I will probably not know it, but still.)

I didn't reply to this! Sorry, I'm rubbish.

I was in the Wetherspoons near Wood Green Vue cinema, which is about as far as I go in terms of getting into Wood Green.

I'm about a ten minute walk up the High Road from there, just past White Hart Lane. My parents and R's took us out for lunch at that Wetherspoon's the day we moved into the flat, but I don't think I've been there since.
