Apr. 3rd, 2009 06:47 pmSo, I was going to come on here and bitch about my car possibly giving up the ghost again. Which is awful and annoying and argh. Etc.
Instead, I just got a phone call from my mum. As a result, I am now frantically googling - on her request - breast cancer, lumps in the breast, and the exact proceedure that they do to you when you go in for the fast-tracked. She is taking this rather badly, although at least she went to the doctors immediately. She was joking about it and saying she'd rather die on cancer than have a mammogram. I think she was joking. She's really iffy about her appearence at times; I imagine Dad would eventually persuade her into having stuff done if it was needed. We don't have any breast cancer whatsoever in the family (it's the heart attacks we have to look out for) and she's only 45 and I'm fairly sure she's not too far into the menopause, if she's there at all, but she is a smoker and does drink, which increases chances.
I am very, very aware that 90% of all lumps on the breasts turn out to be benign. This is Good Odds, officially.
There's not really much to say, beyond that. I just felt it was worth recording and would take any bits and bobs of medical advice from those who can give it.
I am still shit-scared.
